A Lovely Autumn Home
Yes, we do shoot for Autumn. It is such a joyous time of year: gorgeous walks, wellies, winter clothes, new TV dramas. I have been doing an art class since September on Friday mornings and I will get some more exercise in tidying up the garden.
I wanted to squeeze in a post about this glorious season before we start gearing up for Christmas.
We shot this house a while ago and the owner Jo Tutton has moved since. You can read a post about her latest project here. I am returning to this feature though because it is such a great example of Autumnal styling: blankets; squashes; candles; hints of the surrounding trees just changing colour all around…
Jo is a brilliant interior designer and stylist. She has project managed some ambitious builds, and her and her husband, Nigel, make a great team, both practical, with a sharp eye for the budget and Jo is also excellent at the finishing touches. She has wonderful taste in art and collects pieces from both well-known artists and younger more affordable makers.
Plus, look carefully and you will see that Jo also cleverly accessorises her home with a mix of designer, investment buys and lovely High Street finds. The result is a fresh interior that sits perfectly in the gorgeous landscape of Monmouthshire where the house is located but a few expensive notes lift it to another level.
Jo was brought up in the area and her parents still live locally, but Jo and Nigel travelled the world for work and they lived in have lived in the US, Mexico, and Scotland as well.
Jo has gained so much inspiration from her travels and her children have inherited her love of globetrotting as well, so she has visited them in other far-flung destinations. However, a love of travel is often combined with a strong sense of home: many travellers love returning back as well. Jo is no different and her home is full of cosy corners as well as souvenirs from exotic destinations.
